GENERAL INFORMATION ON RADIO 3MBR-FM (103.5mhz)
A small group of local residents with the aim to establish a communinty radio station here, formed a community advancement society, and became incorporated on the 6th.of November 1980. The registered name of this society is entitled "Mallee Community and Educational Broadcasters Co-Operative Limited."
This organization conducted a test transmission, later was granted a C class Broadcasting licence, and established Radio 3MBR-FM which officially commenced broadcasting in December 1982. Radio 3MBR-FM is a non-profit community access Radio Station employing volunteers, based at Murrayville in North West Victoria, serving the Mallee Border Districts of Victoria and South Australia. This includes the towns and districts of Underbool, Cowangie, Murrayville, also Ouyen (via a translator) in the Southern part of the Mildura Rural City Council, and Pinnaroo, Parilla, Lameroo, in the Southern Mallee District Council of South Australia.
This is a rural district comprising mainly of Primary Industries. There is much natural bushland in this area, and National parks, Reserves, Wilderness areas, and a spectacular wild flower display from September to December. Also home to Native Wildlife. This area includes the "Big Desert Wilderness," "Murray Sunset National Park," "Pink Lakes," "Ngarkat Park," "Scorpion Springs," other parks nearby include; "Wyperfeld National Park", "Hattah-Kulkyne National Park," "Karte Conservation Park," and the "Billiatt conservation Park."
The station's transmitter is situated 7 Kilometers south of Murrayville, it has a 63mtre high mast which accommodates a 6 element vertical dipole array. Radio 3MBR-FM broadcasts in stereo, on a frequency of 103.5mhz and its' radiated signal is vertically polarised, with an omnidirectional pattern. The ERP is rated at 3kw. There are two translators, one in Ouyen on 92.9mhz and another in Lameroo on 107.5mhz. There are three broadcasting studios which are geographically apart. A studio is located in Murrayville another at the transmitter site (7kms south of Murrayville) and the other located 30kms away at Pinnaroo, but are all directly linked to the transmitter.

The main format is easy listening, except for some- Pop - Rock - Alternative and Contemporary music programs.
