The
State Emergency Service (SES) is a volunteer organisation
established under an Act of Parliament and based at community
level.
The
service is part of a National network and exists in every State
and Territory of Australia.
The SES has,
as its primary object, the provision of a nucleus of personnel,
trained in skills to be able to respond to emergency situations
and to support other statutory services in times of emergencies
or disasters.
At the community level, SES Units respond to 'day to day' type
incidents such as vehicle accidents (country areas), searches,
cliff rescues, flood and storm damage situations and any other
incidents at which their assistance is required.
